Native Landscapes & Gardens is seeking a dependable and mechanically skilled Shop Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our fleet of landscape equipment, trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery.

Role Overview

This role is responsible for keeping crews operational by ensuring all equipment — from handheld tools to compact heavy equipment — is serviced, organized, and job-ready.

We are open to both full-time and part-time candidates depending on experience and availability.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in keeping equipment running efficiently and understands how critical reliable machinery is to field operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of helping crews stay productive by minimizing downtime and maintaining high equipment standards.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain landscape equipment, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Service both gas-powered and battery/electric-powered equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, blade sharpening, filters, belts, greasing, hydraulic service, and tune-ups
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues efficiently
  • Maintain and organize the shop, parts inventory, and equipment storage areas
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and communicate downtime needs with management
  • Track maintenance schedules, inspections, and repair records
  • Assist with fleet upkeep, trailer maintenance, and equipment transportation readiness
  • Ensure all equipment is safe, clean, compliant, and ready for daily operations
  • Help reduce downtime through proactive maintenance and repair planning

Equipment Experience Preferred

  • Commercial mowers
  • String trimmers and edgers
  • Blowers and chainsaws
  • Battery-powered commercial equipment platforms
  • Skid steers and compact track loaders
  • Mini excavators and compact heavy equipment
  • Trucks and trailers
  • Small engines, diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems

Qualifications

  • Experience working on landscape equipment, heavy equipment, diesel engines, or related mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of both electric/battery and gas-powered equipment preferred
  • Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting experience strongly preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Basic welding or fabrication experience is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL is a plus but not required
