Communication Director
Meet Amy, an educator and nature enthusiast whose most cherished memories are rooted in the outdoors. Growing up along the rugged coast of Maine and hiking the White Mountains, she developed a deep appreciation for natural spaces—an appreciation that has shaped both her personal and professional journey. Now based on the Eastside of Cleveland with her husband,Ian, and their daughters, she values the proximity to the Metro Parks and the vital role nature plays in fostering strong, connected communities.
Amy holds both a State of Ohio teaching certificate and a National Geographic teaching certificate, reflecting her dedication to lifelong learning and environmental education. She has spent countless hours studying sustainability, best practices in teaching, and innovative ways to connect people with nature. Before joining Native, Amy played a key role in developing Laurel School’s premier Outdoor Early Childhood nature immersion program, helping young learners forge meaningful relationships with the natural world.
Always up for a challenge, she has also completed the 1000 Hours Outside Challenge for the past two years, further reinforcing her belief in the power of time spent outdoors. At Native, Amy combines her expertise in education with her passion for communication and nature connection, helping bridge the gap between people and the landscapes around them. Beyond her work, she enjoys restoring her own outdoor spaces by removing invasive species and planting natives, exploring local parks, and returning to the wilds of Maine with her family.
