Matt is a lifelong advocate for sustainable landscapes and Native’s garden whisperer. Growing up in the Chagrin area, he spent his youth rock climbing, fishing, and exploring the outdoors, developing a deep connection to nature. His passion for working outside took root early, leading him to an organic farm in his twenties, where he gained firsthand experience in ecological farming practices.
Working closely with arborists further strengthened his appreciation for plants and the essential role native species play in supporting healthy ecosystems. Matt’s career has been defined by his commitment to holistic, environmentally responsible landscaping. He spent years in organic lawn care before developing Bee Natural Plant Health Care and later co-founding Native with Marc.
From creating community gardens for Cleveland residents to helping homeowners maintain landscapes that are both functional and ecologically beneficial, Matt has dedicated his work to planting with purpose. At Native, he serves as the Plant Healthcare Specialist, applying his extensive experience to diagnose, test, and treat plant diseases, ensuring landscapes thrive naturally. Matt is excited about Native’s continued growth, particularly the expansion of the ecological services division and the move toward large-scale habitat restoration. Outside of work, he finds joy in bass fishing, hiking with his family, and playing soccer with his kids. Matt embraces the outdoors in every aspect of life.
